About Me:
Former history student and hence well used to hard work. Journalistic background is a bit here-and-there: quite a bit of music journalism and a fair amount of political reporting for left-wing paper the Weekly Worker. Would like to report on areas of the world (home and abroad) where people suffer and whose plight would otherwise go unnoticed. Also to expose the ways in which governments and establishments machinate to mislead, exploit and disguise reality. Also to break apart the dominant media paradigm of sales-driven cynicism and to open up participation in media to the masses. Any more pretensious statements and I might explode
What's Your Personal Beat?

Winners and losers - Kim Hollamby blog

The story of online commerce is not an unmitigated success story. In fact, the road to Web 2.0 is littered with aborted projects, dead-ends and commercial failures - the web equivalents of Betamax.

Amongst other things, Kim Hollamby’s lecture was a reminder that despite presenting vast

'My News Now' and the BBC dilemma - Pete Clifton blog

A huge brown bear flees to the top of a tree in mortal fear – of a tabby cat called Jack. In terms of views on the BBC’s website, this story outranked the most serious world news that day by some margin.
