Capturing Cardiff proposal: Is the Cardiff music scene a local place for local people?

When conducting interviews with various bands from South Wales I discovered that despite there being a wealth of new music and a good diversity of shows in Cardiff, there is a strong feeling that the city’s music scene is becoming stagnant and almost incestuous, with the same local bands being put on by the same promoters .As a result people are ‘sticking to what they know’. Therefore, when bands from outside Wales perform, the turn-out is poor to say the least. Why is this?
