Blood and Ice

A pressing matter. I reckon Vanilla Ice looks like Daniel Day Lewis but not many seem to agree with me, so I took the liberty of photoshopping Mr Ice as Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood. Any takers?

Truths About Your Workforce

“See I was talking about it with a guy in work, you know, about doing the LPC, and he was suggesting IT, because they’ve got these training programs where they’ll pay your fees and all the rest of it. But then, even if I do my LPC, I’ve still got to get my training contract, and that just seems like a lot of work. In truth, I just want to level my dwarf. Please, just all of them, leave me alone and let me get to level 70.”

He's off and flyin' as he guns the car around the track/He's jammin' down the pedal like he's never comin' back.

I was 15 years old when I first saw The Fast and the Furious. Here we had a film that would inspire a million youths to blemish their Vauxhall Novas with day-glo accessories in hopes of emulating their big screen hero Vin Diesel and his underground street racing subculture.

Thanks in no small part to the dubious e

Rolo Tomassi - Music in the Key of Doom

Jesus Christ. Certainly not my personal saviour, but nonetheless the only apt expression to convey the visceral power of Rolo Tomassi. I had entered the venue cold, with no knowledge of this band whatsoever, and left a convert to a cause I can't quite explain. I could assume at least, that they must have dug

Antony Mayfield - Marvels

"What the deuce?," I said to myself as I logged onto my Myspace account, which had taken on some curious and no doubt coincidental facets of upstart younger brother Facebook.
It just goes to show that there's nothing like a bit of healthy competition to turn the order on its head, and the rise of social networking sites in recent years shows this. Another example,… Continue

Kim Hollamby - Digital media

An Ode to Werner and Klaus

Werner Herzog is one of the most innovative filmmakers of his era. A product of the New German cinema movement which espoused such contemporaries as Rainer Fassbinder, Herzog dares to take his camera to those corners of the Earth where the Hollywood union crews wouldn't dare.

"Here! Have my +1 mace!"

I have made it my mission, nay, my (epic) quest to get in touch with this guy. The grimace says he's hungry for basilisk blood. The shoulders are tense, the stance ready to go mace-to-face with any level 12 umberhulks that could tear through his fetching velour curtains at any moment

Digital Literati - Daniel Meadows

Sepia tinted photos of a woman are shuffling by the screen of the Stanley Parris lecture theatre.

The photos are all similar to each other, their quick succession creating an impression of movement akin to a zoetrope.

In the background there is the singing of a chorister while a soft-spoken narrator guides us through this tribute to the Br

Capturing Cardiff – A Curtain Call

I would like to provide an insight into the inner workings of a major theatrical production at the Wales Millennium Centre.

With permission, I would request to interview, film and photograph the process of intricate stage preparations, rehearsals and audience reactions to either Herge’s Adventures of Tintin (Nov 20-24) or Nicholas Nickleby (which is showing in two parts, Nov 7-10).

For Nicholas Nickleby, I would wish to attend the free pre-screening ta
